Nokia (NOK) and Informatica announced that they have signed an agreement for Informatica to acquire Identity Systems, headquartered in Greenwich, CT. Identity Systems became a subsidiary of Nokia in February 2006 as part of Nokia's acquisition of Intellisync. Informatica will acquire all of the capital stock of Identity Systems in a cash transaction valued at about US$85 million.The transaction is expected to close by the end of May subject to customary conditions, including all required employee consultations.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
